Members of Linkin Park and Incubus will chat with their fans tomorrow 5/3/2012 on RollingStone.com at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT ahead of their co-headlining outing on the 2012 Honda Civic Tour. Linkin Park are also releasing Living Things, a new album co-produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin, on June 26th. Submit your questions for Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Mike Einziger of Incubus ahead of time and during the chat via hashtag #RSChats on Twitter.

Brandon has donated a sketch from 'From The Murks Of The Sultry Abyss' that's going to look very familiar to those of you who have the book (p.89 hint,hint) as part of Artworks for The Cure happening here in LA on April 29. "Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd brings 'Art, Activism and the Ocean' to Monterey"

Once upon a time, Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd had his sights set on a career in oceanography.

"I grew up surfing, and even before I surfed, I had a fascination with the ocean," said the 35-year-old musician/artist, who dreamed of attending Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego.

"I became much more fascinated with art and the artistic process," Boyd said. "I started painting and that sort of stuff and I got a little distracted toward my lofty goals of oceanography as a kid."

Boyd visits the Museum of Monterey on Thursday for the presentation "Art, Activism and the Ocean."

His work is on display as part of the Museum's "Flows to the Bay" exhibit. It includes a piece of a large mural Boyd created with the Hurley surf company, as well as sketches and prints from the project.

He teamed with Hurley to draw attention to the detrimental effects of plastic bottle water pollution. Boyd said the film "Tapped" about the multi-billion dollar bottled water industry was a particular eye-opener.

KROQ Acoustic Xmas Cancelled

"Incubus announced today that they are going to have to cancel their appearance at this year’s KROQ Acoustic Xmas show due to the illness of guitarist Mike Einziger. Mike became ill on the band’s recent European tour and the band had to cancel 3 shows. After returning to the US, doctors have recommended that he take some additional time off to recover so the band will not be able to perform as scheduled.

The band issued the following statement. “We are very sorry that we will not be able to perform at this year’s KROQ Acoustic Xmas show. Acoustic Xmas has always been one of our favorite shows to play. Our #1 priority is our fans and it pains us to dissapoint them, but we look forward to starting the new year healthy and rested and playing for all our Incubus fans again very soon. Thank you for your understanding.”

Show Cancelled Due to Illness

"I regret to inform our Incubus fans in Amsterdam, Luxemburg, and Frankfurt that the concerts scheduled for this weekend are cancelled. As most of you know, we had to cancel 2 shows earlier this week because Brandon lost his voice with laryngitis and now Mikey got very ill and had to go the hospital. He is going to be fine but the doctors have recommended that he not play any more concerts. We will do our best to reschedule the dates in 2012. For those of you who have paid for MYF Meet and Greet Packages we will be contacting you shortly to arrange for refunds. The band appreciates the support of all their fans and apologizes for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the cancellations."

"it was obvious at that moment how much music mattered. It didn't even matter that it was us playing it. It was just that people wanted to go out and hear some music and be taken away from it all. It was like touching a live wire, playing that night."

Boyd added that "playing music never made more sense to me than then. It was a way to pull people together, to remind them of better things. As we played those chords that night, I just felt so lucky to able to experience it all -- to be the conduit for so much emotion."
